Oxidation of potassium sodium tartrate ions by hydrogen peroxide, catalysed by cobalt(II) salts

Description

Sometimes unstable intermediate products are formed during heterogenous catalysis. These intermediates decompose readily forming products and regenerating the catalyst. This video shows the oxidation of potassium sodium tartrate ions by hydrogen peroxide, catalysed by cobalt (II) salts. This is an example of the intermediate formation theory of catalysis.
